After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Dan worked 15 years in corporate sales as a top-performing sales executive of technology products and services to Fortune 500 companies. Dan entered real estate after a great experience selling and buying a home and realizing that his consultative sales approach could help others successfully meet their own real estate needs.
First, in the Oakland Hills and now in Lafayette, Dan has made the East Bay his home since 1989. He admires the classic architecture found in Berkeley and Oakland homes and enjoys the sunny, outdoor living that LaMorinda offers. Dan actively tours in LaMorinda and Piedmont/Oakland Hills/Berkeley to stay on top of available houses and market trends on both sides of the tunnel.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys playing tennis, coaching his children’s soccer teams, traveling to interesting places near and far with his family, cooking and entertaining, enjoying fine wine, making artisanal pizza, grilling the perfect tri-tip, and trying to teach his Goldendoodle not to jump on visitors.
Over the past year I have had the great pleasure to work directly with Dan Walner of the Compass. We needed to sell three properties as we worked towards the settlement of an estate. From the very beginning Dan showed a great ability to listen to what the client wanted to do. We had three very different properties. He is able to offer creative selling options and ideas inside and outside of the typical house sale scenario. He went above the typical agent duties by advising us, when asked, about how much fix-up to do to prepare houses and providing calm guidance in working with contractors and subcontractors.
Dan is very easy to communicate with and...
— Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill Seller
We worked with Dan for about 6 months before closing on a house in Moraga. While the process of buying a house, especially in the current rising market, is always a challenge, working with Dan has been a great experience. Dan is very knowledgeable with the Lamorinda neighborhood, and was always available to answer our questions (and we had a lot of questions). He gave valuable advice on several occasions so we didn't get too crazy trying to win bidding wars; in the end, Dan did great a great job in helping us getting the house we wanted while staying within our budget. He was also tremendously helpful after close of escrow, he made himself available...
— Moraga Buyer
Working with Dan has been a fantastic experience. In the face of a housing market tilted heavily against the buyer, Dan provided patience, sharp judgment, timely (but never pushy!) tips, an endless supply of flexibility, and keen insights over 1.5 years to help guide us into a great home in Walnut Creek. He is the exact type of realtor you'd want at your side in navigating the white hot Bay Area market.
